World Breastfeeding Week || Department of Paediatrics
Breastfeeding week is celebrated between August 1st to 7th every year all over the world to initiate and spread the importance of breastfeeding in the community.
The theme of this year’s breastfeeding week celebration is “Step up for breastfeeding, educate and support”.
On this occasion various activities have been held in the department of Paediatrics involving doctors,budding nurses to educate and create awareness among to be mothers and postnatal mothers. Throughout the week awareness sessions have been held highlighting on the importance of breastmilk, correct techniques of breastfeeding and proper positioning to ensure the beautiful bonding between mother and her baby.
Mothers are educated regarding the nutritive values of breast milk and the wide number of advantages of exclusive breastfeeding.
At the end of the week that is on 7th August a valedictory has been held in the presence of respected Medical Superintendent Dr. Basireddy Hariprasad Reddy sir, Incharge Principal Dr. Jyothi mam and other dignitaries. This was attended by faculty members and postgraduates of department of Pediatrics, nursing staff and postnatal mothers. Program was concluded successfully with great speeches from the dignitaries about the significance of breastfeeding to the mothers in their own language followed by hi-tea.
