Department of Community Medicine, Narayana Medical College, Nellore, conducted a national workshop on systematic review and meta-analysis to discuss conceptual and statistical nuances regarding systematic review and meta-analysis.
Workshop was conducted on 14th Oct 2023 from 9 am till 5.30 pm at Anatomy Demo hall, Narayana Medical college, Nellore.
The workshop was attended by about 150 (30 offline and 120 online) participants from various medical colleges including staff and postgraduate students of Narayana Medical College.
Workshop was inaugurated by Dr. P. Srinivasulu Reddy, Principal of Narayana Medical College, Dr. R. Viswa Kumar, Vice Principal, Narayana Meical College, Dr. C. Jyothi, Professor and HOD, Department of Community Medicine, Dr. C. Kumar Professor, Dept of Community Medicine. Inauguration included speeches from Dr. P. Srinivasulu Reddy, Principal of Narayana Medical College and Dr. C. Jyothi, Professor and HOD, Dept of Community Medicine.
Dr. Shruthi, Assistant Professor, Dept of Community Medicine Introduced the guest speakers and anchored the entire programme.
APMC has appointed Dr. S. Govindu, professor of Community Medicine, ACSR Medical College as an observer for the programme.Â
Morning session was conducted by Dr. E. Venkata Rao, professor of Community Medicine, IIMS, SUM Hospital, Odisha. Morning session included ‘Introduction of the topic systematic review and meta-analysis’, ‘Framing the research question’ and ‘Searching principles and bias assessment’.
Morning session was followed by lunch break from 1.00 pm till 2.00 pm.
Post lunch session was conducted by Mr. Richard Kirubakuran, Evidence Systhesis Specialist, center for Biostatistics and Evidence Based Medicine, Vellore. Post lunch session included topics ‘Minimize Meta-bias/Qualitative Synthesis’, Planning Meta-analysis and Statistical Methods and Interpreting the results & Reading/ Critical appraisal of papers on Systematic reviews and Meta-analysis.
Post lunch session lasted till 5.00 pm. Final Peer review assignment was conducted by Mr. Richard from 5.00 pm to 5.30 pm.
Mementoes were handed over to the resource persons. The workshop ended with vote of thanks by Dr. C. Jyothi, Professor and HOD, Dept of Community Medicine.
