The Department of Surgical Gastroenterology and the Department of General Surgery, in association with Medtronic, organized a comprehensive Surgical Suturing Workshop on June 27th and 28th, 2024. The event took place from 9 AM to 4 PM in the General Surgery Seminar Room. The organizing committee comprised Dr. P.R. Vamsi Krishna, Dr. V. Dwarakanath Reddy, Dr. V. Mahidhar Reddy, and Dr. N. Venkata Harish. The workshop was designed for postgraduate students from the Departments of General Surgery, Surgical Gastroenterology, Gynecology, and ENT.
The program commenced with an inauguration ceremony graced by distinguished chief guests: the Principal of Narayana Medical College, Dr. P. Sreenivasulu Reddy, the Medical Superintendent of Narayana Hospitals, Dr. B. Hariprasad Reddy, the Medical Education Coordinator and Head of the Department of General Surgery, Dr. V. Mahidhar Reddy, and the Head of the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology. The guests emphasized the critical role of hands-on training workshops in enhancing the skills and knowledge of postgraduate students, underlining the workshop’s importance in their professional development.
Following the inauguration, Dr. P.R. Vamsi Krishna, a Surgical Gastroenterologist, delivered an insightful lecture on various suturing techniques. This was succeeded by an intensive workshop where each postgraduate student received personalized training on suturing techniques using specialized trainers. Over the two days, the participants engaged in practical sessions, allowing them to hone their suturing skills under expert guidance, making the workshop a highly valuable learning experience.
