Theme : Wanted Leaders for TB – Free World
On the occasion of World TB-Day 2018, the department of Respiratory Medicine has organized CME and Workshop on 24th March in Taylor’s Lecture Gallery, Narayana Medical College, Nellore; under the guidance of Dr.G.P.Vignan Kumar, Professor & HOD, Department of Respiratory Medicine. The programme started with Prayer song and was inaugurated by our beloved Principal, Dr.K.Veera Nagi Reddy,M.D. and Medical Superintendent Dr. Sreeram Sathish M.S.
Dr.G.P.Vignan Kumar, Dr.P.Sreenivasulu Reddy, Dr.Jithinder, Dr.Nagabushanam, Dr.Rammohan had participated in the inauguration program.
The first talk was given by Dr. Kumar M.D., Professor, Department of Community Medicine on epidemiology of TB. He explained about RNTCP problems & implementation in community.
The second talk was given by Dr.P.Sreenivasulu Reddy, M.D., Professor & HOD, Department of Microbiology on Newer Diagnostic Methods for TB. He made special emphasis on MDR-TB Diagnosis.
Dr.G.P.Vignan Kumar, Professor & HOD, Department of Respiratory Medicine had given lecture on Recent advances in the Management of Tuberculosis, particularly MDR-TB. He explained the importance of World TB Day & Robert Koch’s contribution to the respiratory medicine.
The programme was instrumental in drawing attention to the risk and vulnerability associated with tuberculosis.
Professors of all departments, Post graduates, Medical students, paramedical students & nursing staff had participated in this programme.
The work shop was successful in explaining ATT CAT-I, CAT-II, CAT-IV Regimens of RNTCP & importance of Fluorescent microscopy in detection of TB Bacilli.
This CME was organized by Dr.G.P.Vignan Kumar, Professor & HOD, Department of Respiratory Medicine to enhance & update the current knowledge on Tuberculosis.
