On August 26, 2023, under the aegis of Dr.YSR UHS & APMC, an enlightening and engaging Zonal CME programme unfolded, bringing together a congregation of esteemed professionals in the surgical field & Postgraduate students from Zone-4 Medical Colleges (NMCH, ACSR, RIMS, Katuri & GMC). The programme was organized by the Department of General Surgery, Narayana Medical College, Nellore at Louis Pasteur Learning Centre. The schedule for the day was meticulously crafted to provide a platform for knowledge sharing and discussions on cutting-edge topics in the recent advances of General Surgery.
The day commenced with a punctual start at 8:30 AM with Registration followed by a grand Inauguration by the Principal, Vice-principal, Medical Superintendent, CME Coordinator & then Welcome Address by HOD of General Surgery at 9 AM, marked the official commencement of the event, setting the tone for what promised to be a day filled with insights and discourse.
The morning sessions were brimming with informative talks from distinguished speakers. Dr.K.L.Sampath Kumar took the stage from 9:30 AM to 10 AM and discussed prolifically on the ‘Recent Advances in Colorectal Cancers’, followed by Dr.G V Prakash’s enlightening discourse from 10 AM to 10:30 AM on ‘Recent Advances in relation to Solitary Thyroid Nodule’. Dr.V. Mahidhar Reddy continued the insightful discussions with a crisp & comprehensive lecture on ‘Recent Advances in e-learning, Excellence vs Competence’ from 10:30 AM to 11 AM. A much-needed tea break at 11 AM allowed participants to refresh and network.
The post-break session began with Dr.D.Sreedhar’s talk on ‘Recent advances in ethics, laws, and donor recruitment in Renal transplantation, followed by Dr.K.Sreenivas Rao’s talk on ‘Recent Advances in Localization of Breast Lesion’. Both the talks were exhilarating.
In the pre-lunch session, a Symposium on Major Randomised Control Trials in Surgery in the last 5 years was organized. Dr. K. Suhas Chaitanya, Dr. N. Venkata Harish, and Dr. Chaitanya Kumar Reddy led this informative discussion.
After a fruitful morning, participants enjoyed a well-deserved lunch break.
The post-lunch sessions kicked off with a stimulating Panel Discussion on “Recent Advances in Concepts & Management of Ventral Hernias”. Dr.V.Mahidhar Reddy, Professor & HOD of General Surgery, expertly moderated the discussion, with esteemed panelists including Dr. Sreeram Sateesh, Dr. S. Naga Muneiah, Dr. G. V. Prakash, and Dr. V. Dwarakanath Reddy, each holding a distinguished title in the realm of surgery and gastroenterology.
As the day drew to a close, a Quiz for Postgraduates was held from 3:45 PM to 4:45 PM, allowing budding talents to showcase their knowledge.
The program culminated with a dignified Valedictory session at 5:15 PM, acknowledging the collective wisdom shared throughout the day.
