Essay on Anti-Ragging Week Celebration

Introduction: On the occasion of Anti-Ragging Week, celebrated from 12th to 18th August 2024, the NSS Unit of Narayana Medical College, Nellore, has organized a series of events to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of ragging and to promote a safe and inclusive campus environment. As part of these initiatives, an Essay Writing Competition was held on 13th August 2024. This event is in alignment with the directions provided by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, which has been instrumental in promoting anti-ragging policies across educational institutions in India.

Objective: The primary objective of this Essay Writing Competition is to engage students in thoughtful reflection on the issue of ragging and its impact on individuals and the academic community. By participating in this event, students will have the opportunity to express their views on the importance of eradicating ragging from educational institutions and to suggest ways to foster a culture of respect, dignity, and mutual understanding among peers.

Theme: The theme for the essay writing competition is “Ragging: A Menace to Educational Institutions and the Role of Students in Eradicating It.” Participants are encouraged to explore various aspects of ragging, including its psychological, social, and legal implications. Essays should also focus on the proactive role that students can play in preventing ragging and promoting a positive and supportive campus environment.

Guidelines:

  1. Eligibility: The competition is open to all students of Narayana Medical College, Nellore.
  2. Length: Essays should be between 800 to 1200 words.
  3. Format: Submissions should be typed, double-spaced, and formatted in Times New Roman, 12-point font.
  4. Submission: Essays must be submitted by 4:00 PM on 13th August 2024 to the NSS Unit office. Digital submissions can be emailed to nssunit.nmc@gmail.com.
  5. Judging Criteria: Essays will be evaluated based on originality, clarity of expression, coherence, and the depth of analysis on the topic.

Prizes: Winners of the competition will be awarded certificates and prizes during the closing ceremony of Anti-Ragging Week on 18th August 2024. The top three essays will also be featured in the college newsletter and on the official website of Narayana Medical College.
