On the occasion of World Cancer Day which was observed on 04.02.2024, the Department of Community Medicine conducted a Health Education Program at the Urban Health Training Centre, Saraswathi Nagar.
Dr. Jyothi Conjeevaram, Professor & HOD spoke in detail about various cancers that are common in India and also the most common cancers among men & women in India. She also briefed them about Self Breast Examination which is an important and other factors preventive practice. The role of diet and the use of tobacco products in causing cancer was also dealt with at length.
Dr. Saranya, a Post-Graduate of Community Medicine enlightened the gathering about breast cancer, its risk factors, and screening for breast cancer. Dr. Kumar, Professor of Community Medicine.
Dr C Kumar, Professor, Dr. Sai Sravan, Associate Professor, other faculty, PG & Interns of the department also participated in the event. Dr. D.M. Karthik, M.O., UHTC actively participated in conducting the health education program. Dr. Prasad, Associate Professor of Biochemistry & NSS Program Officer, at Narayana Medical College also attended the Program.
