This Student Charter defines the rights and responsibilities of students
and establishes the standards of academic and professional conduct
expected from every student of the institution.

3. Rights of Students
Every student has the right to:

4. Responsibilities of Students
Every student shall:
- Attend all academic and clinical activities regularly and punctually.
- Maintain the required attendance prescribed by the competent regulatory and university authorities.
- Participate actively in lectures, tutorials, practicals, clinical postings, seminars and other scheduled activities.
- Maintain academic records, logbooks and other required documentation.
- Prepare adequately for internal and university examinations.
- Follow instructions issued by the College and University.
- Maintain discipline within the campus, hospital and hostel.
- Respect faculty, staff, patients, attendants and fellow students.
- Protect College and hospital property.
- Uphold the dignity of the medical profession.
5. Professional Conduct
Students shall demonstrate:
- Professional behaviour and courtesy.
- Punctuality and responsibility.
- Appropriate communication skills.
- Respect for patients and their families.
- Respect for faculty, nurses, paramedical personnel and other healthcare workers.
- Appropriate professional dress and identification.
- Honesty and integrity in academic and clinical activities.
- Appropriate professional behaviour both inside and outside the campus.
Students shall not engage in behaviour that brings disrepute to the
institution or the medical profession.
6. Patient Rights and Student Responsibilities
Patients are central to medical education.
Students shall:
- Treat every patient with dignity, compassion and respect.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Respect patient privacy.
- Obtain appropriate permission before participating in examination or clinical procedures as required.
- Follow instructions of authorised faculty and clinical supervisors.
- Observe infection-prevention and patient-safety practices.
- Never undertake procedures beyond their level of training or authority.
- Immediately report patient-safety incidents or accidental exposures through the appropriate institutional mechanism.
- Never photograph, record or share identifiable patient information without appropriate authorization.
7. Academic Integrity
Students are expected to maintain the highest standards of academic honesty.
The following are prohibited:
- Cheating in examinations.
- Plagiarism.
- Fabrication or falsification of academic or clinical records.
- Impersonation.
- Unauthorized alteration of attendance or logbooks.
- Misrepresentation of academic achievements.
- Unauthorized use or disclosure of examination material.
Academic misconduct shall be dealt with according to applicable
institutional, university and regulatory provisions.
8. Examinations and Assessment
Students shall:
- Follow all examination instructions.
- Carry required identification and examination materials.
- Maintain discipline during examinations.
- Refrain from any form of malpractice.
- Complete internal assessment requirements within the prescribed time.
- Maintain required attendance and academic eligibility for university examinations.
- Follow the procedure prescribed by the University/College for examination-related grievances.
9. Attendance and Leave
- Students are expected to attend all scheduled academic and clinical activities.
- Attendance shall be recorded as prescribed by the competent authority.
- Leave shall be obtained through the prescribed procedure.
- Absence without permission may attract appropriate action.
- Students shall be responsible for fulfilling the attendance requirements prescribed for eligibility for examinations.
10. Anti-Ragging
The College follows a zero-tolerance approach towards ragging.
Ragging includes any act that causes physical, psychological or
emotional harm, humiliation, intimidation, harassment or inconvenience
to another student.
Students shall:
- Refrain from ragging in any form.
- Report incidents or suspected incidents through the prescribed mechanisms.
- Cooperate with investigations.
- Respect the dignity and rights of junior and senior students alike.
Action shall be taken in accordance with applicable laws, regulations
and institutional policies.
11. Harassment, Bullying and Discrimination
The College is committed to maintaining a campus free from:
- Sexual harassment.
- Bullying.
- Intimidation.
- Physical or verbal abuse.
- Discrimination.
- Threats and violence.
- Any other behaviour that creates a hostile or unsafe learning environment.
Students may approach the appropriate institutional committee or

12. Social Media and Digital Conduct
Students are expected to exercise professional responsibility while
using social media and digital platforms.
Students shall not:
- Disclose confidential patient information.
- Upload patient photographs, videos or clinical information without appropriate authorization.
- Share confidential examination material.
- Misrepresent themselves as official representatives of the College.
- Engage in cyberbullying or online harassment.
- Post content that violates professional confidentiality or institutional policies.
Freedom of expression should be exercised responsibly and consistently
with professional and legal obligations.
13. Infection Prevention and Patient Safety
Students shall strictly follow institutional infection-control practices,

During clinical postings and other designated activities, students shall:

- Maintain personal hygiene.
- Follow applicable institutional dress and grooming requirements.
The purpose of the dress code is to promote professional identity,
patient confidence, safety and discipline.
20. Use of Mobile Phones and Electronic Devices
Mobile phones and electronic devices shall be used responsibly.
They shall not be used:
- During examinations except where specifically permitted.
- During clinical activities when their use interferes with patient care or teaching.
- For unauthorized recording of patients, faculty or students.
- In violation of confidentiality or institutional policies.
21. Grievance Redressal

I shall respect my patients, teachers, colleagues and all healthcare
workers. I shall maintain honesty, integrity, confidentiality and
professionalism in my academic and clinical activities. I shall
respect the rules of my institution and contribute positively to the
learning environment. I shall place patient safety and welfare at the
centre of my professional conduct and strive continuously to become
a competent, compassionate and ethical medical professional.”
28. Review of the Student Charter
This Charter shall be reviewed periodically by the institution and
updated whenever required in accordance with changes in:
