About the Department

Anatomy dissection is a specialized laboratory space designed for the study of human   

 body through hands an examination of cadavers.

It is typically spacious, well-ventilated, and equipped dissection tables,

Surgical instruments proper lighting and preservation system to maintain specimens

The environment is kept clean & controlled to ensure safety and hygiene, often with the presence of protective gear such as gloves, masks & lab coats.

Students dissect & study under the guidance of faculty, carefully dissecting & identifying various anatomical structures which maintaining respect & professionalism towards the  donated bodies, the halls serves as clinical setting with where theoretical knowledge is transformed in to practical understating of human anatomy.

Dr. K. Ashalatha, Professor and Head of the Department (HOD) of Anatomy at Narayana Medical College, Nellore. I am a highly experienced faculty member (APMC 36436) involved in teaching, research, and heading the department’s academic activities, including conducting cadaveric oaths and white coat ceremonies for MBBS students.

  • Responsibilities: Active in conducting workshops, the Cadaveric Memory Ceremony, and mentoring first-year MBBS students, coordinator for 1st M.B.B.S, coordinator for mentor-mentee system, member of anti-ragging committee.

In MBBS we have U G students large group teaching consists of 180 classes, other teaching methods like S.G.T. DOAP, practical’s, integrated sessions, E.C.E seminars all these come around 430 sessions, SDL consists of 10 sessions, we conduct formative assessment examination once in 3weeks, internal assessment examination followed by the practical’s, regarding the PG schedule.

PGS also does seminars & General clubs they maintain their own long book. Noting day to day activities.

Facilities

Following facilities are available in the department of anatomy

  1. Dissection hall contains satisfactory number of cadavers of 25.
  2. Histology laboratory 200 binocular microscopes.
  3. we demonstrate histology slides using trinocular microscope with digital camera which will displayed an the LED projector.
  4. Museum consists system wised arranged wet specimens 250 in number
  5. 200 models
  6. 11 skeletons,
  7. 60 sets of all bones,
  8. 33 skulls,
  9. 7 base of skulls and fetal skulls.
  10. PG research laboratory: consists rotary microtome, sledge micro tome. Cabinet for 1000 slides incubators, paraffin embedding bath, hotplates for flattering sections, hot air oven for drying slides, Refrigerator to store the chemicals.
  11. Department also is provided with 4 Demonstration halls, accommodation 100 students. Halls are well equipped with lighting system AC and LED projector & screen.

Department also has a library cum PG seminar room, AC & LED projector & screen. It has its own computer system.

A departmental library is a small subject focused library located with in the anatomy dept itself, separate from central college library departmental library consists books written by various national & international Authors.

Anatomy department typically has several specialized laboratories designs for teaching & research related to the structure of human body the main type which we usually find are,

Focuses an microscope anatomy contains microscope, prepared slides staining equipment.

Anatomy museum:

This is are of the state of art museum not exactly a lab but very important.

Displace preserved specimens, models,

charts and anomalies helps visual learning & revision.

Research laboratory

Used by faculty and postgraduate students,

Equipped for advanced research in fields like histology, embryology and Neuro anatomy.
