About the Department

The department of pharmacology is located in the second floor of the college. The department has adequate space for training both under graduate and Post Graduate students of pharmacology. The department has been equipped with more than adequate number of equipment and instruments not only for medical students but also for Dental & Post Graduate student in Pharmacology. Post Graduate students have facilities to do both intact and isolated experiments.

There is adequate Laboratory space for the following laboratories:

Dr. B. Madhavulu is a distinguished senior academician and clinical pharmacologist with
over 17 years of post-MD teaching experience, widely recognized for his contributions to
Clinical Pharmacology, Medical Education, Medical Research, Animal ethics, and Academic
Leadership. He has played a pivotal role in shaping undergraduate and postgraduate Medical
pharmacology training, with more than 14 years of MD mentoring experience.
He is an approved Ph.D. Guide and Assessor for Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences and
Bharath University, Chennai since 2016, contributing significantly to research guidance and
academic excellence at the national level.

Animal House

The Central Animal research Facility of Narayana Medical College is established to support academic and research activities involving laboratory animals for research and educational purposes only, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs, as well as faculty research in biomedical sciences. The facility ensures the availability of healthy laboratory animals for experimental and educational purposes while maintaining high standards of animal care. The Central Animal House Facility is designed and maintained as per CCSEA guidelines to support ethical, safe, and high-quality biomedical research and teaching activities for undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs. The Animal House for Small Animals is registered with the Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CCSEA) (Reg. No. 1859/PO/Re/S/16/CPCSEA) and is maintained in strict accordance with CCSEA guidelines and standard operating procedures. All activities within the facility are conducted with a strong emphasis on animal welfare, ethical practices, and regulatory compliance. The functioning of the facility is supervised by the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC), which reviews and approves all research protocols involving animal experimentation. No experimental work is undertaken without prior IAEC approval. The facility is designed to provide appropriate housing conditions including controlled temperature, humidity, ventilation, and sanitation. The animal house is fully air-conditioned to maintain optimal environmental conditions. RO-purified water is provided for animal consumption. Proper care, feeding, and routine health monitoring of animals are ensured at all times by adequate trained staff dedicated to animal care and maintenance. The facility is also equipped with 24-hour security and CCTV surveillance, ensuring safety, monitoring, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
