AIG Epilepsy Meet – Edition II, organized by AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad, was conducted on 15th and 16th November 2025 at the Auditorium, AIG Hospitals, Gachibowli, Hyderabad. The two-day academic symposium brought together neurologists, neurosurgeons, epilepsy specialists, and other healthcare professionals with a shared focus on advancing the understanding and management of epilepsy.
The symposium featured interactive academic sessions and expert presentations covering important aspects of epilepsy, with particular emphasis on seizure semiology, epilepsy diagnosis, seizure classification, epilepsy syndromes, etiological evaluation, and pre-surgical assessment.
A significant highlight of the academic programme was the presentation by Dr. N. S. Sampath Kumar, who delivered an insightful session on seizure semiology and its importance in epilepsy surgery. The presentation emphasized the concept that “semiology is the first camera” in epilepsy surgery, highlighting how careful observation and interpretation of seizure manifestations can help in lateralization and localization of the epileptogenic zone and contribute to accurate pre-surgical planning.
The session also discussed the ILAE diagnostic axes for epilepsy, including ictal phenomena/seizure semiology, seizure type, epilepsy syndrome, etiology, and associated impairment or disability. Clinical approaches to differentiating epileptic seizures from conditions such as dissociative/functional seizures were also highlighted.
The event provided an excellent platform for knowledge sharing, clinical discussion, and exchange of expertise in the field of epilepsy. The symposium underscored the importance of systematic clinical evaluation and multidisciplinary collaboration in achieving accurate diagnosis and optimal treatment, particularly for patients being considered for epilepsy surgery.
Overall, the AIG Epilepsy Meet 2025 was an academically enriching programme that contributed to strengthening clinical knowledge and promoting advances in the comprehensive management of epilepsy.
