National Epilepsy Day 2025

Narayana Medical College & Hospital observed National Epilepsy Day on 17th November 2025 as part of its Comprehensive Epilepsy Program, with the objective of creating awareness about epilepsy, encouraging people with epilepsy to seek appropriate medical care, and promoting a positive and supportive attitude towards individuals living with the condition.

The programme was organised by the Department of Neurosciences and brought together doctors, healthcare professionals, patients, attendants and members of the hospital community. The event provided an opportunity to highlight the importance of understanding epilepsy as a treatable neurological disorder and to address misconceptions and stigma associated with seizures.

Major Highlights of the Programme

The programme was conducted under the Narayana Comprehensive Epilepsy Program.

The central theme displayed during the event was “My Epilepsy Journey,” emphasising the experiences, challenges and achievements of people living with epilepsy.

A large epilepsy-awareness rangoli was created at the venue, prominently displaying “National Epilepsy Day 2025” along with imagery representing the brain and epilepsy awareness.

The event featured participation from patients, their families, doctors, staff and other members of the hospital community.

An awareness session was conducted, during which information related to epilepsy and its management was communicated to the participants.

The photographs show a senior member of the medical team addressing the gathering and sharing information related to epilepsy.

The programme also included group photographs and patient/staff participation, reflecting the collaborative approach of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program.

A specially designed photo frame/awareness display with messages such as “Unbreakable,” “Fighting Brave,” “Conquered the Storm,” “Purple Power” and other positive expressions was arranged to encourage and empower people affected by epilepsy.

The use of purple decorations and epilepsy-awareness symbols helped create an appropriate visual identity for the programme.

Significance

The National Epilepsy Day programme served as an important platform for epilepsy awareness, patient empowerment and reduction of stigma. The event emphasized that individuals with epilepsy can lead meaningful and productive lives with appropriate diagnosis, treatment and follow-up.

Through such awareness initiatives, the Department of Neurosciences at Narayana Medical College & Hospital demonstrates its commitment not only to the clinical management of epilepsy but also to patient education, community awareness and comprehensive epilepsy care.
