The institution has a streamlined Internal Quality Assurance Mechanism

Establishment of Internal Quality Assurance Cell:

The Institute has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell on 07/04/2015, and IQAC meetings are held regularly.

The main aim and objective of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic action towards quality sustenance and quality enhancement.

In order to internalise and institutionalise the quality initiatives, the institute implemented quality initiatives in medical education and practices and initiated the process of assessment and accreditation in the year 2016. Taking the core values of NAAC, the institute identified quality initiatives in tune with institution’s Vision & Mission. In February 2016, the Narayana Medical College was accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade.

The IQAC collects information from Academic, Clinical, Research, extra-curricular and extension activities of all the departments along with administrative activities were collected and prepared for the annual reports of the IQAC through AQARS, and subsequently for the Self Study Report of NAAC for Cycle – 2 accreditations. IQAC facilitated to collect feedback from students and other stakeholders on the curriculum, analyzed thereby identifies areas requiring improvement annually.

IQAC also conducted Academic and Administrative Audits regularly. The institute have been submitting to NIRF ranking every year. The institute also participated in the AISHE, MHRD. IQAC also facilitated the formation of the Innovation and Incubation Centre. The Internal Quality Assurance Cell has always functioned as a hub for all quality initiatives and best practices evolved by Narayana Medical College, besides taking charge of all types of accreditation and ranking exercises for Narayana Medical College. 

The IQAC ensure:

  1. A high degree of transparency and participatory management in the functioning of the college.
  1. Coordination among the various activities through the involvement of all the faculty, staff and students to enhance healthy practices.
  1. Involving all the stakeholders in the decision-making process.
  1. All faculty and staff members are part of the Steering Committee, so that the quality measures discussed are disseminated across the institution.
  1. The regular meetings by the DEAN with all the faculty members and periodical meetings with the HODs ensure participatory dissemination making process.
  1. IQAC acts as a nodal agency in the institution for quality enhancement and sustenance in all aspects of teaching and learning.
  1. Organisation of orientation programmes to faculty and non-teaching staff quality teaching and learning methods.
  1. All the faculty are made it a point to attend seminars/conferences and encourage research culture among faculty and students.

To ensure a quality culture as the prime concern through institutionalising and internalising all the initiatives taken with internal and external support.

IQAC MISSION

To develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic action to improve the academic and administrative performance of the institution. To promote measures for institutional functioning towards quality enhancement through internalisation of quality culture and institutionalisation of best practices.
  1. Development and application of quality benchmarks/parameters for various academic and administrative activities of the institution
  2. Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge and technology for the participatory teaching and learning process
  3. Arrangement for feedback response from students, parents, and other stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes.
  4. Dissemination of information on various quality parameters of higher education.
  5. Organisation of inter and intra-institutional workshops, seminars on quality-related themes and promotion of quality circles
  6. Documentation of the various programmes/activities leading to quality improvement
  7. Acting as a nodal agency of the Institution for coordinating quality-related activities, including the adoption and dissemination of best practices.
  8. Development and maintenance of an institutional database through MIS for the purpose of maintaining /enhancing the institutional quality.
  9. Development of Quality Culture in the institution.
  10. Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) as per the guidelines and parameters of NAAC, to be submitted to NAAC.

      IQAC is actively involved in mechanisms and procedures for

    1. Ensuring timely, efficient and progressive performance of academic, administrative and financial tasks.
    2. Relevant and quality academic /research programmes.
    3. Equitable access to and affordability of academic programmes for various sections of society.
    4. Optimization and integration of relevant suitable and innovative methods of teaching and learning.
    5. The enhance the credibility of assessment and evaluation process.
    6. Ensuring the adequacy, maintenance and proper allocation of support structure and service.
    7. Sharing of research finding and networking with other institutions in india and abroad.
